Land of Paws was founded in 1993 by veterinarians Dr. Mark Daly and Dr. George Gates and their wives, Patty Daly and Pam Gates. Their mission was to provide the Kansas City community with something that was missing: An upscale dog and cat store offering the most exclusive pet supplies, toys, treats, pet apparel and boutique items for a pet owner and their pets delivered with extraordinary customer service. The flag ship store, conveniently located next door to the veterinary practice, proved to be an instant success with the pet lovers and shoppers of Kansas City. With the brilliant combination of veterinarian expertise and fabulous taste, the store established an impeccable and exciting reputation that still holds true today.

Ten years later in 2003, Kristen Lewis and Catelin Corn approached the owners, wanting to expand the business and open a second location in the affluent suburb of Overland Park, Kansas. After years of experience working at the flagship store, and armed with recent advertising and communication degrees, Kristen and Catelin felt they were ready for the challenge. In July 2003, their dream became a reality and the second Land of Paws was opened. They continued to carry on Land of Paws’ tradition of over the top customer service, distinctive merchandising and trendsetting product selection for dogs, cats and their owners.

With the overwhelming success of the two Kansas City stores and at the request of many out of town shoppers, it was decided to share with the world the award winning combination of exclusive product selection, and fabulous customer service that have set them a part in a highly competitive and expanding pet market. In the summer of 2006, the E-Commerce website was launched, providing everything from their best selling, classic products form their Kansas City stores, to the hottest, must haves of the season.

In 2007, Courtney Hill and Land of Paws had the honor to join other well known, locally owned shops and become a part of Briarcliff Village, just five minutes north of downtown Kansas City, and a short distance from the Kansas City International airport. In their charming Tuscan-inspired setting, there is a well-rounded collection of the area’s favorite stores, shops and restaurants. It was a perfect fit for Land of Paws.
